Needing to catch up on some mileage I decided to walk 65 miles of the Fife Coastal Trail, from North Queensferry to St. Andrew's...............what a trip! (5 days, 3 blisters, 1 sore leg and foot, countless beautiful views, several fellow walkers, many hours of solitude, fresh sea air, lots of sunshine and several heavy downpours - that's the summary)

Day 1 - North Queensferry to Burntisland - beautiful weather and a lovely, scenic route.

Day 2 - Burntisland to Leven - another lovely start to the day, beautiful views at Pettycur Bay and Kinghorn and then on through Kirkcaldy. Dysart harbour was a lovely surprise before the heavens opened between West and East Wemyss.

Day 3 - Leven to Elie - rain poncho got another outing today in Elie. Lovely walk today through Lower Largo. A highlight was the view down to Earlsferry from Kincraig Point.

Day 4 - Elie to Crail - lovely coastal villages today, walking through St. Monan's. Pittenweem, Anstruther and Cellardyke. After this point the terrain wasn't the best until reaching Crail. Managed to get too much sun, in between the rain showers.

Day 5 - Crail to St. Andrews - the final leg (and what a leg it was)......all surfaces today: uneven grass, rocks, sand, golf courses. And then the steps..........oh, the steps. Also uneven and rocky, interspersed with uneven grass, thistles and ferns. And an actual clamber across rocks (at low tide of course) at which point I think I had reached my limit. Only thing keeping me going was the fact that I was closer to St. Andrews than returning to Kingsbarns - and of course the small matter of mileage for my 2 charities.

So happy to arrive into St. Andrew's after the walk today. Bus back to Crail then drive home for a (well-deserved) hot soak and feet up.
